I’ll light up in red, yellow, black, and white to incite discussion around the First People of this land. These colors are sacred in Native American culture and embody various cultural concepts around the number four. I’ll illuminate over “Minwaking” / Milwaukee, —Potawatomi for “gathering place by the waters”, as a reminder that Indigenous Peoples have never left these lands.

On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, I invite you to help us honor America’s first inhabitants by learning more about the history of the Tribal Nations of Wisconsin, the contemporary lives of the Indigenous people closest to where you’re from, and challenging your friends and family to do the same.
