Light the Hoan Continues Momentum with Website Launch, Quiet Fundraising Phase

MILWAUKEE – Though its been some time since our last update, big things have been happening behind-the-scenes over here at Light the Hoan.

Today, we’re excited to invite you to check out our brand new website! Our updated site is designed to continue bridging Milwaukeeans together by providing a more user-friendly experience to read the hundreds of amazing dedications, making it easier for all of our supporters to keep up with our fundraising efforts, and submit new bulb dedications.  

Milwaukee, you’ve done us proud. We’ve been amazed and overwhelmed by your beautiful dedications and highlights of people and organizations improving our community with every day acts of kindness and goodness. Our new website is enhanced to better feature these stories and with community engagement in mind. The site includes new features to help users quickly and easily navigate the site, and find or dedicate a bulb. Updated features include:

  • A seamless dedication process (one click to check-out)
  • An updated Frequently Asked Questions page
  • Episodes of the “Behind the Bulb” video series
  • News & Updates from the Light the Hoan crew  

“After listening to feedback over the past year, it was important for us to build a website that provided regular updates on our fundraising milestones, and made it easy to shine a positive light on citizens through our unique dedication platform,” said Ian Abston, co-founder at Light the Hoan. “The launch of our new site represents the next phase of our fundraising efforts.”

Since launching in 2018, the group has been working tirelessly to raise funds to beautify the Hoan Bridge. The goal is to install state-of-the-art LED lighting on the bridge ahead of Summer 2020, when the city of Milwaukee is slated to host the Democratic National Committee.

This summer, Milwaukee business leaders David Lubar and Greg Marcus gave the Light the Hoan efforts a critical boost by hosting an event at the Pfister to underscore the importance of this project to the City of Milwaukee, the next generation of leadership in this city and the forthcoming DNC effort.

The meeting generated several very important fundraising prospects, and concluded with MillerCoors donating $25,000 to the Light the Hoan effort!

Light the Hoan says its new website aims to bolster its ongoing crowdfunding and corporate giving campaigns and will be updated on a regular basis with new bulb dedications, photos, and news on the initiative.
